I’m amazingly craving for the real fall-shows to come, so I’m a little lacking of motivation to write some more about pre-fall collections right now. Maybe this already changes until tomorrow but I somehow thought about sharing some inspiration once again with the rest of the blogger-world. I found some wonderful pieces on interesting tumblr-blogs and they all caught me in such different ways, that I still get inspired while looking at them. Some of them may be a little different from the other inspiration-posts I’ve done so far.
Looking at these pictures makes me always come to a little controversy in my head. Is that fashion? Is that art? Is fashion art? Is art fashion?
Personally, I’d consider fashion to be part of “art”. Whatever art includes (and let’s think about a bit more than just Botticelli, Monet and .. well let’s also list my favourite, Warhol), I’m convinced you can say that fashion might sometimes appear to be not only some piece of a specific material that was meant to represent some color on it and, as a highlight for the season, was trimmed with some studded details. How can ANY of the last collections Alexander McQueen himself designed be not considered as a precious part of the fashion-century that represent the artist behind the wonderful piece of cloth with its artistic appearance? It’s the breath-taking moment you get to see one of the pieces at first, that gets you to look at it for minutes and minutes. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a little by talking about McQ but isn’t that just interesting when fashion represented at some runway somewhere over the world with a probable cool sound in the background turns to shape the decade or even century when it originally was “just some clothing material sewed together”?!
Hope you get my kind of thought and don’t worry if you don’t … I’m already very, very tired and sometimes it happens that I get a little too philosophic. ;)
I’ve mixed some of such “fashion-meets-art”-pictures with some pictures that I purely consider to be art without any fashion-indication in it. Hope you like that compilation!
