POD Boutique Hotel in Camps Bay

IMG_5639

Located almost directly at the beach of Camps Bay, our hotel, POD, was definitely the best choice.

As a beautiful little gem in midst of the little but quite glamorous beach town, POD stuns with modern, clean architecture, which perfectly fits the apartment houses surrounding it and with a beautiful interior, that matched my taste extremely well.

Although the hotel was totally booked out over these days, we didn’t even notice all of the people (always a plus I’d say) due to the smart split-up of rooms in the lower areas with small little private plunge pools (not facing the sea directly).

Rooms up the two floors are either overlooking the ocean, the pool accessible for everyone or the 12 Apostles mountains in the back (or all of them, if you’re as lucky as I was).

And speaking about the rooms; I was extremely surprised by the smart way of store possibilities with beautifully simple but huge cupboards. For someone who loves to travel with “a little more than what is needed” (that travel-light-rule will never grow on me regardless of the fact that I’m fortunate to travel since I’m small; forget it!), real space can really be of an issue wherever you are.

But not at POD, which even gave me the chance to keep it up with my “nothing lying nowhere” attitude I overtook from my parents and even store my everyday-stuff (bags, cables, etc) into the deepnesses of these cupboards.

We were treated so nicely, everyone tried their best and the continuous positive, confident and yet unobtrusive attitude of the whole hotel staff was extremely comforting throughout the days with stayed. Although we haven’t planned anything at all for New Year’s Eve and realized so quite in short-term, the receptionists did their best to book us into one of Cape Town’s hotspots, the Beluga restaurant, to afford us the best evening possible.

Frankly, there’s not much left to say than let the pictures speak for themselves. This fine little boutique hotel won’t let you down if you book wisely in advance (it’s quite busy and highly popular among those who appreciate the clean understatement hotels out there) and are ready for a relaxed but tasteful atmosphere.
