It may be already fashion week in big apple but it’s definitely the buzzing week for London. With its little fashion week countdown beginning today, Scoop International just kicked off yesterday.
Since I’m slightly hesitating when it comes to fashion fairs, I was curious to see how this show turns out; located at the Saatchi Gallery at which already Karl the Great has exhibited The Little Black Jacket, it sounded promising.
From Filippa K. to Matthew Williamson (from which I only spotted the scarf collection) to Liu Jo and Coccinelle – a diversity of more than 250 (emerging and established) designers showcased their F/W 2013 collections at the beautiful gallery, which made the surrounding immediately more comfortable.
The mix of fashion and current exhibitions (deeply focussed on Russian art) gave a quite contrasting yet perfectly matching atmosphere.
14 galleries, 3 floors and I have to tell: It took me 3 hours to go through everything, which seems quite well when thinking about the fact that I saw literally everything (which I normally don’t do as I’m a quick no,thanks/yes,please-decider).
Founded by Karen Radley, an industry’s expert, Scoop launched in February 2011 for the very first time and already counts on its several successes bringing apparel, footwear, accessories and even (unexpectedly) perfumery together.
Quite noticable, this time’s fair focuses on Scandinavian designers.. not least my attention was caught by Filippa K., which was one of my first crushes during an internship in Berlin 3 years ago.
Typically simple and puristic yet with that certain special bit, this year’s F/W collection definitely brings a deal.
(I guess I personally would have to put a chunky necklace on top to style it up but that classically lies in the beholder’s eye).
From camel shades to the deepnesses of strong dark green and blue, Filippa K. surprised me with a pink on pink combo. It generally seems as if these pinkish tones get their moments again; something I can just partially support as I myself feel like part of Mary’s little lamb while wearing these shades.
But besides from this little point, the navy as well as marine tones totally get me in their pure clean cut versions of coats, pants and (chunky) knitted tops.
Other than that, brands like Essentiel from Antwerp as well as jewellery designers John & Pearl and Hipanema caught my attention.
It’s always good to take a look around, get informed and see what’s up and coming through such events; especially if they take place in such beautiful surroundings like the Saatchi Gallery.
The fair still runs until 12th of Feb and comes back in July.
Students will get a discount.
