The Maxi

Mini wears Maxi – there couldn’t have been any better description of me wearing a maxi skirt for the very very very first time.

A premiere I’d say.

And another piece, which established itself for an unknown time to my wardrobe. After the camo pants yes-no-yes-no-yes (where we currently rest on a “yes”), the maxi skirt I kept on criticizing found a way to convince me.

Partially. And with a fair reason: As I’m leaving for the Arab Emirates on Sunday, I felt the urge to buy something, which won’t hinder me from visiting any places stricter than the usual things you do when being outside the hotel.

Not quite sure (yet) how to style this with any appropriateness when being at my destination next week, I decided to give it a go here in my normal allday-environment.

I must say: It’s slightly weird for someone who usually dresses in much shorter bottoms to suddenly wear such a long piece.

And it’s interesting when thinking about any ways to style it up and give it different characters.

While a tight and short blazer with a catchy top and some striking accessories would do “a little more than casual/not too chic” dinner look, this outfit here has been definitely done for a day and after-work meeting with friends.

At least that’s what I’ve been doing in this.

Conclusion to myself: There’s a fine line between pleated maxi skirts (hate it to death) and a simple maxi skirts (like mine is). Midi skirts are still on the black list. And this will probably keep my only maxi skirt. For now.

Let’s see how this new companion will prove itself the upcoming week! :)

Happy Friday.
