(Foreword: The different pictures of my dress were taken before heading to Vienna – I wanted to see how it looks! You will see a bunch of pictures “live” from the venue and then switch back to the “single outfit” shots.)
I’ve just rarely been to such an impressive place like the Vienna State Opera is. Seriously.
When entering the building for the very first time, it immediately reminded me of the city’s town hall I was able to see when attending the Life Ball last year.
The neo-renaissance architecture and the pompous details – I felt like a little girl again for a few seconds. ;)
No wonder that this “visit” all by itself was already exciting enough. But obviously, I didn’t come to see the interior of the State Opera.
We were invited to see I Vespri Siciliani, an opera subdivided in five acts, composed by Giuseppe Verdi and directed by Herbert Wernicke.
After having a little insight into the big classic music world back in Easter during the Salzburg Easter Festival, I was super interested in hearing an Italian composer.
And I didn’t regret it. Much more light-hearted (if not easy-going all the time – just like an opera is expected to be!), the Sicilian rebellion of 1282 against the French troops is dramatically (if not too much!) told and represented by four main characters all having a story with each other, which resumes to a total picture through the opera.
I really enjoyed the shorter breaks (thanks to the five acts) in between – it’s surprising how you start reflecting about the things you just saw and heard immediately after the act ended (something, which can be helpful to interpret and presume about the upcoming acts).
Before heading to the Opera, we were able to have a beautiful view of Vienna right next to the building and the Albertina.
Looking at the Stephansdom during the city sunset and sipping some drinks was definitely one of the nicest weekend-endings in a long time!
As this was not a premiere, I didn’t go for any bottom long dress. Appropriate to the event, I chose the knee length and thought about my beautiful Klein-blue dress I never wore before.
Although they might be rare, I really like wearing extraordinary Austrian designs – especially when they are as unique and pretty as this dress by Gräfin Mawar!
The colour together with the special detailing on top – the perfect mix for such an occasion. Not too much, not too boring understatement.
The zip at the back adds that slight edginess to the clean cut and ruffled bits – something I really like!
I first went for some closed heels, then decided to take the open toes – how many times will I wear them again this year?!
Hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as I did! Happy Wednesday!
